Mon Choisy Public Beach, Mauritius

Today, I am allowed to spend another day in Paradise. Actually on my to-do-list for today, was to visit the beach of Pereybere, but my friends invited me for a spontaneous BBQ at the beach of Mon Choisy. After a 3 hour quick shopping tour to buy the necessary things, I am now sitting on the beach of Mon Choisy. My friends prepare the BBQ, which is why I am able to do my work and keep you up to date. The beach of Mon Choisy is a sought-after place. No wonder! Crystal clear water and a seemingly never-ending sandy beach invite you to linger. On weekends, many Mauritian families come here and set up tent-like shelters to cope with the scorching sun. All along the beach the smell of the BBQ is in the air, thanks to the everyday working life we almost have the beach for ourselves. Occasional people are basking here in the sun and work hard on their tan. Now and then, you can see children as they try happily to escape the gently rolling waves on the shore. Using colorful buckets they build sand castles and try to protect them from the sea by digging deep trenches. Mon Choisy features everything. There are numerous water sports offered and one can snorkel in the nearby reef. But also for a relaxing day at the beach you are here in the right place. Shady filao trees flank generously the beach from the road. Once you found a place to linger, there is nothing to hear or see from the mentioned road.

Was just distracted, as I received a fresh coconut. Somehow, I still have not understood how this persistent shell can be broken in order to sip the refreshing coconut water with a straw. Imagine you are sitting under one of the typical filao trees. The feet dig into the white sandy beach with a fresh coconut next to you. Here as well, the gentle breeze allows some cooling down and the sea noise can be heard clearly in addition to a religious birdsong. While some friends are working hard on their Rugby skills, others take care of the food and I, I am working. Don’t feel sorry for me, because I am working, after all to happily inform you about your next holiday destination. At this time, the water temperature is still quite refreshing and perfect for a dip in the about 22 °C cold water. Whether this is actually true, I will test in a minute for you.

The water temperature is simply wonderful and the BBQ as well. Tasty skewers with chicken or beef, vegetables and a number of other delights. Meanwhile, it is already quite late in the afternoon and I’m already looking forward to the paradise sunset. The sky turns into deep orange and red tones, which are reflected from the sea surface in shimmering color games. Some of you may be thinking, just a usual kitschy sunset on the beach and yes, it is also kind of that. The Charm of this natural spectacle is still unique, when surrounded by friends or family, filao trees, the sound of the Indian Ocean and the warmth of the Mauritians, one is grateful and overwhelmed to be able to witness such a sunset.
