Pereybere is in the north of Mauritius, its a coastal residential village. Close to the beach there are some shops, restaurants, hotels and a supermarket. Pereybere is a popular beach in Mauritius. Mauritians like to go there on the week ends.

In Pereybere you also have the morcellement Swan which is a big residential place, there you have lots of houses. Pereybere is a beautiful place. Well structured and organised. In many parts peaceful and quiet. Except at the coast, there its more lively. Since Pereybere is just next to Grand Baie, you will find lots of shopping oppurtunities there. In Pereybere there is also an english speaking Baptist church, its in Morcellement Swan. A great place to get to know people and expats when you are new here.

Pereybere is easily accessible by Bus, and from Grand Baie you can get an Express Bus to go the capital city Port-Louis.

There is a small supermarket in Pereybere and I don't know how the prices are. Else you need to go to Grand Baie, to Super U which is a very big hypermarket, there, the prices are ok. Else it would be good that you have a car to get around.

So, if you have more questions about Mauritius etc. please let me know.

In general the prices are quite similar all over the island. You have expensive shops and cheaper shops. A simpler way to answer your question would be that on avarage a Mauritian earns Rs. 6000 a month, this is = 6000/27 = $222
This is not much here, its the minimum but you can live from that. Better is to have $500 a month or plus if you have a family. Now it also depends what your house costs. Many mauritians still live with their families and many own their houses.

Pereybere is not the cheapest place in Mauritius. To live cheap you need to go to the cities like Port Louis, there you can find places for Rs.4000 a month. Thats like $150 a month.

In Pereybere i can imagine that if you take an apartment for longterm it could start with the price of Rs. 15 000 which is like $555 a month. Well maybe there are cheaper places but I don't know of any. You will have to look for it.

Thats a bit difficult I guess, you would need to be here to look for it. Mauritius is a small country, Pereybere is not a big place, so you can also try to look in other towns and places. Well it all just depends on your budget and what you can afford.

Hello terry,

with $ I mean US Dollars. The exchange rate was about 1 US Dollar = 27 Rupees. This rate changes everyday so I have no idea what it will be like next year.

Concerning flights I cannot help you as I do not offer these. Please contact a local travel agency, I'm sure they can get you some good flights.

Hello Terry!
You have a very nice plan there Me too, I ask myself every time when I am on holidays in Mauritius, why don't you just try to move here? But me, I am from the UK, where it rains nearly everyday... You come from Mexico, which is also a beautiful place!

So why have you chosen Mauritius as your destination? Have you spend your holidays there and fell in love with the island?

And, if I may ask, what are you planning to do in Mauritius? Have you already got an offer for a job? Because me, I was wondering how to organize all this when you are not in the country yourself...

I guess for me,staying in Mauritius for a longer period of time will only remain a dream But please let me get your news how you are going to realize your dream!
I wish you the best of luck!
Richard
