Hi Dietmar

Thanks for your hospitality and assistance.

Other than the official website, are there other mediums that the locals will know the TV Schedules for the international games? Or do the locals use the international cable/satellite TV Channels to watch the broadcasted matches?

Hmm, I am from Singapore and we do have our local football scene too. However, due to our culture, we do have difficulty in finding local talents who can play football professionally (full-time), thus we rely on foreign talents as well. It is getting stronger and more recognizable by the year, so hopefully, we can make a bigger impact on the world in the years to come.

So here is a big cheer for both our local football scenes to flourish, then we have more beautiful football to watch. Hee.

Hey guys!

That's a real long topic you got here!

And, man, Eunice, that's a job a lot of guys are jealous of, right? Watching football as a profession sounds like a male version of heaven

So, as an Arsenal fan, did you watch their match against Portsmouth? How did you like it?

Have a nice day!
Richard

Hi Richard

To be frank, sometimes too much isn't a good thing either. Watching repeated matches over and over again can tamper the passion for watching football. Haha. But to be able to be part of it is an honor in itself. Hee.

I watched almost all the matches, be it Arsenal or not, as long as I have time. But not during office hours. I still prefer to watch live matches. Hee.

And of course I am glad that Arsenal finally won a match, especially after 2 draws. Haha.

Happy New Year!

Cheers
Eunice

Hi Eunice!

Well, yeah, am glad that you finally had a victory to celebrate How does the fan community in Singapore look like? A lot of Arsenal fans around or are you all alone there? Are there a lot of sport pubs where you watch the matches with a good glass of beer?

Of course no TV broadcast can top the live experience of a football match! But you have to travel quite a long way to see the Premier League Did you have the chance to watch a lot of international matches? Abroad or even in Singapore sometimes?

So long
Richard

Many use this magazine: Le Mauricien Home Page
The Scope magazine, we use it to at home to check whats on on the TV channels. Online I don't think that you can see the tv channels/programme.

Yes, they do. There are several cable companies here, one local from the MBC and then others, like CANAL+. On their sport channels you get to see the soccer games.

So whats the name of your local team that you support ?
Do you have a league ?

And maybe they can play against each other someday, once here, and once at your country so that fans can travel and get to know new horizons...

Yep, and its also very time consuming, you need to have the time

Whats their position at the moment in the UK soccer league ? does the league in which they play have a special name ?

Hi Dietmar

Still in the festive mood, thus the late response. Haha.

We do have our own Singapore League (S-League). I am not a fan of any of the clubs in general though I will follow the news of Singapore's national football team when I have the time.

Although currently, Arsenal is positioned 5th, right behind Aston Villa, Arsenal will always be considered the "Big 4", alongside Manchester United, Liverpool & Chelsea. So I trust that Arsenal will catch up.

It's called English Premier League (EPL), though some may call it Barclays Premier League (BPL), after its official sponsor.

In Singapore, you can choose to countdown in any club, in their own styles. There are a couple of places where anyone can view fireworks displays, with live broadcast of a selected location, with local artistes performing some light-hearted song & dance routines til countdown, entertaining those who choose to stay at home.

I chose to book a hotel with a couple of friends to watch the fireworks, as I have participated in the Christmas Eve Countdown in my favourite club. Hee.

The fan community in Singapore is not as "passionate", as in, you won't see a big group wearing the same jersey walking down the streets.

Most of those around me are fans of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea. I am not able to find the same number of Arsenal fans. Those that I am able to find are mostly ladies. I wonder why. Haha.

I wouldn't call them sport pubs. But many of the pubs who have TVs or have the space to set up TV projectors, show football matches whenever they are broadcasted, especially for matches between big clubs. In particular, English Premier League matches.

Personally, I don't touch alcohol but if I do go and watch at pubs, I can see that beer is the popular drink.

I didn't get the chance to catch any live match as I am either too busy or too poor to travel so far. Haha. But it will remain one of my top priority goals. Hee.

Cheers
Eunice
