After reading your post about the lion, I thought to make search on it and I got the website of the safari in Mauritius. It seems to be great, I wana go to. The website is Safari Adventures Mauritius - Lion Encounters - Walking with the lions and the Cheetah. Also, there's another website that might interest you. There are loads of information on that concerning interesting places of Mauritius. Here it is MAURITIUS PORTAL - Islandinfo: ONLINE MAGAZINE, SIGHT SEEING, ACTIVITIES, SHOPPING, EATING OUT, NIGHTLIFE, HOTELS, BODY & SOUL, BUSINESS, SERVICES, MAP, FORTHCOMING EVENTS, WEATHER.

Hello Abhikerl,

welcome to the forums. Nice website that you got there. I guess it must be the same 4 guides that veke mentioned here:

Casela park is really big adventure park and I can recommend activity with lions. You can just watch lions behind the fence or get yourself photographed (with your own camera) or even take a lion walk. We were at same yard with lions and four lion instructors who were take pictures of us.
That cub looks cute Latest News and Events

What about the other link, islandinfo.mu , i've seen their stand at the airport at the arrival parking area. looks nice to that website. Did you make it ?

Hi Abikehrl,

I just had a look at the website. It is quite nice, offering a lot of addresses of restaurants and nightclubs etc. But what I am missing is some real reports about these places. You get no further info which could help you to chose which place to go. Do you come from Mauritius and could maybe give some inside-tips which I can't find on this website? It's always better to talk to an islander than just to look at some website

Thanx!
Steven

Kalastus jäi tällä kertaa toteuttamatta, mutta hyvää kalaruokaa nuo osaavat laittaa. Hotelli osti kalansa paikallisilta kalastajilta jotka pyytivät niitä hotellin edustalla.

[QUOTE=veke77;979]We had a great honeymoon at Mauritius last february.

The pictures are absolutely amazing! Can you please post some details about the trip: where you stayed, what you visited, how the locals are, places that you must see, places you should avoid...
I'm planing a trip to Mauritius myself and I'm surfing the internet for information so I'd trust people who already went there more than traveling sites which jobs are to sell their packages.

Thanks so much!

Hi Karina
Local people are nice and friendly. We didn´t find any place to avoid and we spent nighttime at hotel so i don´t know about whats going on at Port Louis streets at night. Taxi would be good idea travelling at night if you want check local nightclubs.

Best way to see places is rent all day taxi (remember ask price first and negotiate/ haggle to get lower price). Taxi drivers usually drives you places that are shopping places for tourists (expensive prices and shop dealers are dogged to get sold something). Our taxi was avoiding centre of Port Louis because "parking places are difficult to find". I think he gets fee from friends shops and thats why he was avoiding capital shops. Go and check out capital shopping centre, maybe there is cheaper prices. Big shopping malls are cheapest to buy water, soda, rum, beer, sun lotions and that kind of stuff. Prices are also cheaper when you go little far from hotel areas, check out were local people buys their daily shopping.

We stayed at north Mauritius, hotel le Canonnier. Drinks prices at bar is quite same level than europe, but I can totally recommend mojitos (big drinks and taste is great. One thing that´s must is half board ( usually contain breakfast, lunch and dinner except drinks). Food is totally great with ice creams desserts etc. Half board is best way to save money and if you love mojitos maybe full board Hotel was clean (always somebody is cleaning floor that looks already clean) and beach has hotels own guards to drive away beach hawkers if their come too near to the hotel area. Beaches are allowed to everybody, also beach hawkers with selling clothes are stuff. I recommend you not buy anything those hawkers. Just say resolutely that "no thanks" and maybe they go away.

Great places to see is chamarel waterfalls and coloured earths, casela park and parplemousses garden. You can find information of attractions at any tourist guide or internet. Forums like this is best way to ask things so read also other topics, maybe you find some great ideas. Weather can be quite rainy or sunny, thats coincidence..hope you get only sunny days.

After all, Mauritius is paradise island as you can see at the pictures and I can warmly recommend travelling there. Heaven is located right beside Mauritius
