Hi Veke!

That are some great pictures you got there! Mauritius must be so beautiful and your photos make me look forward to my trip there even more!

Where on the island have you stayed? Which places have you visited? What shouldn't be missed?

All the best
Steven

Hello Veke!

Thank you for the nice pictures!
Have you been staying in Pointe aux Cannoniers? I think I recognize it...
Any further travelling plans for Mauritius?

Bye
Richard

Hi

We spent most of our time in north Mauritius (Pointe aux Cannonier) because i heard the weather is few degrees warmer and its raining less than south. Dont know is that true but weather was great and the day we leave island raining cyclons started.

Nice way to find out places is to get all day taxi. Parplemousses and casela park was nice.

And the food was great..

Hi Veke!

So I did recognize the spot A nice place to stay, really! A lot of beautiful beaches around like Mont Choisy, Trou aux Biches and Pereybere and not far from the nightlife and shopping of Grand Bay

I haven't been in Casela Park for a long time. I think they changed a lot overthere. It used to be "only" a bird's park, now it seems to be more of a zoo/nature/adventure park, right?

And, wow, you're right about the food! If I think about it I get hungry. Have to wait for my next trip to the island

Have a nice day!
Richard

Hi Veke,

thanks for posting the link of your photo album. I myself in my free time as well as professionaly enjoy photography. I can see that you used a mirror reflex camera Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL. I'm a Nikon user, I got a D50. It really makes a big difference when you use a mirror reflex compared to a simple digicam.

So here are some I really liked:
Nice water falls at the Georges.

Beautiful waves breaking, something for surfers, looks like in "Pointe aux Piments"... Have a friend who likes surfing there.

Beautiful water flower

That looks craaaaazzzzyyy!! How can you open a lions mouth!

Our typical Quincailleries... and those typical Leyland trucks...

I hope in future to add a picture gallery to the website here and to put online some pictures of mauritius.

Yes, there is some truth in that. On the other hand, South West, the Black River district is very nice to, quite dry and has lots of sunshine.

But there where you stayed is great to and you have some nice beaches there. I walked around that hotel where you stayed, it has a nice setting and some old remains of the past that they restored, like the light house and its part of the hotel.

Are you considering of coming back to Mauritius someday ?

take care, bye bye, Dietmar.

Casela park is really big adventure park and I can recommend activity with lions. You can just watch lions behind the fence or get yourself photographed (with your own camera) or even take a lion walk. We were at same yard with lions and four lion instructors who were take pictures of us. There is also many kind of birds, turtles etc.

Check out also "seven coloured earths", local hindu temples and of course beautiful beaches. Shops are cheaper at the places were local people goes shopping. Around hotels prices might be at same level as in europe. Local handwork is great souvenier idea. We bought some rum, spices, candles in coconut shell and keychain holders. Those holders was success in our home country, cheap and good idea of souvenirs.

I sure we are coming back to Mauritius someday escaping the winter, maybe after few years.. In Finland there is winter now and temperature is now at zero but after few days its going to be minus 15 degrees of celsius. Eight years ago there was minus 51 degrees (celsius) at north Finland. Miss those great beaches already..

Happy new year!

Hey Veke!

Wow, Finland is quite cold Mauritius is really an alternative, they got 35°C for the moment

The lion action sounds interesting! Although I think I might be too afraid to come so close to them... Have you also been to the Crocodile Park, if you enjoy to be around wild animals ?

At which beaches have you been except for the one you've been staying at? Places that shouldn't be missed?

Thanks for all your information!
Cheers
Steven

Maybe I missed crocodile park because of many other park adventures.

Every beach I was visited was great and most of our time we spent at the hotel beach. We visited also beaches nearby Grand Baie area.

Port Louis was great at backseat of taxi, our time was running out and we didnīt find time to get see the city. Remember also glass museum with great souveniers.
