Public Beaches in the East

Trou d'Eau Douce
This small village at the east coast is especially known for offering boat trips to the neighbouring islands, such as Ile aux Cherfes. Visitors meet at the at the main pier, located near the ruin of an old limekiln, in the heart of the village. Swimming is possible at the neighbouring beaches which offer a panoramic view of the main hotels of the region.

Belle Mare
This is one of the widest beaches of the island. It is usually exposed to the wind, but in summer it is very comfortable. Basic infrastructure has been arranged by the local authorities. Safety is ensured by regular patrols. The small, shallow bays make it possible to swim all along the beach. This beach is ideal for runners who are looking for wide space and fresh air. There is a theme park not far from the beach.
