Grand Baie is located in the North of Mauritius. The city is especially featured by its enchanting beach and the wonderful bay. Over the years Grand Baie developed to be a real touristic centre offering everything a traveller desires: posh restaurants, bars, clubs and shopping facilities of every description. Still, Grand Baie didn’t loose its rural charm. Thus the rural, village and simple island way of life still exists right next to the modern city. Furthermore, Grand Baie is a town in which numerous cultures have settled down; the different sanctuaries testify this. Hence, it is not exceptional to discover a church next to a temple or mosque.
Grand Baie is a beautiful and green city, lively during the days, but still offering some quiet spots. For example this wonderful little bay where you can swim, relax, bask, dream and do whatever you desire. There is a reason why people call Grand Baie “La Dolce Vita of the North”, a place where time stands still and life has an unhasty rhythm.
Of course, night owls and partygoers will be able to enjoy the nightlife of “La Dolce Vita of the North”. Numerous bars and discotheques / nightclubs warmly welcome their guests, and visitors will find attractions catering all tastes. But, the tourist will have to spend the night alone, as the locals prefer to spend the evening after a day of hard work together with their families. Hence, the visitor seeking peace and quietude will also find numerous calm spots.

Just in case the tourist does not want to hire a car in order to go to Port Louis to shop or to party, this is no problem: an air-conditioned express bus drives to Port Louis and back daily in a 30-minutes rhythm.
