On top of a hill in the small village Chamarel, with an amazing view on the surrounding plantations and mountains, you find the guesthouse Le Coteau Fleurie. Every visitor directly admires the blue Creole roof. The cottage is surrounded by a large garden and its own coffee plantation. Here Geneviève Fleurie and her husband Gérard have found their home and offer their guests 5 comfortable guestrooms. These rooms can accommodate 1-2 persons and are the ideal accommodation for you if you want to get to know the beauties of the inland of Mauritius and if you want to relax far ways from the noise and stress of the big cities.
The village Chamarel still is rather authentic. The population mainly lives of agriculture. Thus you will find a lot of sugarcane fields and pineapple plantations surrounding the village. Chamarel is famous for an amazing natural spectacle; here you find the couloured earth. When the visitor enters the park he will first enjoy a fantastic view on the waterfall Cascade Chamarel which flows over 127m. In the park one can then enjoy the magnificent play of colours of the earth. On a small hill the earth shows itself in colours ranging from red, yellow and brown to orange, lilac and blue. This phenomenon can be best seen in sunlight. Scientists explain this play of colour with the erosion of the volcanic earth.
