The guest houses are located in the historical region of 'Old Grand Port', the birthplace of Mauritian culture, as it were. The estate with a view of a large bay and several tributaries, used to be the first place of refuge for Dutch colonists who arrived in Mauritius in 1598.
Because of its vast history, the region features numerous historical sites, such as an old Dutch fort, which has now become a museum. The island's oldest sugar factory is located at the bottom of the mountain.

The region of ''Old Grand Port'' is well known for its beautiful nature and biodiversity. You will discover one of the last undisturbed regions of the Island, home to numerous native species of plants and animals. ''La Hacienda'' is located immediately adjacent to ''Ferney Valley Nature Reserve''.

The closest city of the region is ''Mahebourg''. Founded in 1721 as the first French colony of the island this small city has a vast history. With its historic buildings, monuments and a naval museum, Mahebourg offers insights into French Colonialism. The local market, offering clothes, souvenirs, fresh fish, fruit and vegetables is also very much worth a visit. You will also find a post office, a bank, supermarkets, and a restaurant.
