And so it is not uncommon to find a church next to a temple or a mosque.
Grand Baie is a beautiful and green city, during the day it is vividly, but there are also quiet places. Not for nothing it is called Grand Baie, "the dolce vita of the North", where time has stopped, and life has a slower pace...
Of course, there is night life going on for the night owls and party-goers in the "Dolce Vita" of the North. Many bars and nightclubs are only too happy about guests and for every taste there is something fitting - most certain.
The evenings are more likely to be spent with other tourists, because the "locals" prefer to spend the evenings after work with the family. Therefore, it is quiet in many corners of Grand Baie, so that guests, who wish to avoid the hustle and bustle, find something to their expense.
In case you would like to go to the capital to go shopping, walking along the harbour or to celebrate, it is not a problem: After all, the air-conditioned "express bus” runs daily every 30 minutes from Grand Baie to Port Louis and goes back again. Other towns are easy to reach with the bus or by car. You can for instance go to Mont Choisy for a day, which offers one of the longest and most beautiful public beaches of Mauritius, and it is only 15 minutes by bus from Grand Baie. Or, you go to Pereybere, where there is also a beautiful beach and a turquoise lagoon, only five minutes by bus.
