The villa is located in Le Morne, a town named after the nearby mountain. The Le Morne mountain was recently declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. In the past the mountain used to be a place of refuge for slaves who had escaped from their colonial masters. One day the police ascended the mountain to inform the slaves of the abolition of slavery. Thinking that they were about to be arrested, many slaves plunged into the depths of the mountain and died.
Le Morne, located at the south west coast of Mauritius, is a small town which consists mostly of a few beautiful hotels along the beach.
The Villa is a bit elevated and located the foot of the Mountain, about 1 km from the beach. This is the ideal location for nature lovers and those looking for quiet- away from the busyness of the cities and tourist towns. If you want to go shopping or go out for dinner you can do so in the neighbouring village „La Gaulette“, which is only a five-minute car ride away. There you will find a number of boutiques, a super-market, and a few restaurants.
For more excursions you can visit La Preneuse, Black River, or Tamarin further west. In addition to a large shopping centre you will find numerous restaurants and boutiques.
The villa is located in the Black River District, one of the most preserved regions of Mauritius. Nature is untamed and the landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. Because of its marvelous nature the region is very popular with hikers, climbers and mountain bikers. Visit the Black River Gorges national park, the largest nature reserve of the island! Enjoy the local plants and animals and perhaps even meet some monkeys! Make sure that you do not miss a ride along the south coast of the island: The rugged cliffs and the untamed forces of the Indian Ocean are an incredible sight.
