Black River is situated on the west coast of Mauritius, between the increasingly popular town of Flic-en-Flac, and the heritage site of Le Morne. It is very much a quiet, family oriented town where it is possible simply to relax and enjoy the Mauritian way of life. Although there are other hotels in Black River, for the most part they are small and self-contained, making it an ideal place for a calm, relaxing holiday.

There are a variety of shops availabe in Black River itself and nearby Tamarin which is about five minutes by car. For an active night-life it is necessary to go to Flic-en-Flac, which is only about a fifteen minute drive from Black River, where there are a number of bars, night-clubs and restaurants.

Travelling in a southerly direction, one comes upon the world heritage site of Le Morne Brabant, an imposing, square-shaped mountain that can be seen from Black River. It was used as a hideaway for run-away slaves and tragically became the scene of their death when they misunderstood an expedition to tell them of the abolition and jumped to their death.

Our two suites are 71m2 and 58m2 respectively and with a luxurious king-size bed can easily accomodate two adults and a child. The rooms are both en-suite, with the smaller one boasting a jacuzzi and seperate guest bathroom as well, have air-conditioning, a telephone, an ADSL internet connection and satellite television as well as a hair-dryer, safe and well-stocked mini bar.

The Bay Hotel - Superior

Our superior rooms are between 30m2 to 50m2 and are situated both at ground floor and first floor level. With their luxurious twin or king-size beds they can easily accomodate two adults and a child. The rooms are en-suite, have air-conditioning, a telephone, an ADSL internet connection and satellite television as well as a hair-dryer, safe and well-stocked mini bar.

The Bay Hotel - Classic

Our single rooms are 15 m2 and can accomodate one adult in a comfortable double bed. All of our rooms are en-suite, have air-conditioning, a telephone, an ADSL internet connection and satellite television as well as a hair-dryer, safe and well-stocked mini bar.
