Nico Kux – Surfing, Kitesurfing and Diving in Mauritius

Nico Kux calls himself “waterman since 1960” and was born and raised in Mauritius. He grew up in the family’s hotel right on the beach and was always fascinated by the ocean, the waves and the wind. When he was 17 years old he left Mauritius for South Africa where he started diving. After that he travelled the world for 10 years, diving, surfing and sailing at the most beautiful spots to be found until he returned to the little island in the Indian Ocean.

His experience and knowledge make him one of the true seamen of the island. On his homepage "Mauritius Surf" friends of nautical sports will find all they need to know. All spots of the island are presented and thus his homepage is the perfect guide for all fans of the wind, the sea and the sun. Nico also cares about the young sportsmen: in july this year the second IKO (International Kitesurf Organisation) training camp will take place. Here one can learn how to be a kitesurf instructor. Furthermore he organizes different events: the first “Kiteival” in 2007, the “Kitejam” in 2008 and the second “Kiteival” in august 2009. A registration for the event is required. In the year 2000 Nico opened his own kitesurfting school and since 1989 he owns “Sindbad” a diving school and boathouse belonging to his family’s hotel Kuxville in Cap Malheureux. He participates actively in different associations for the protection of the submarine world and the local diving association.
